Throughout the semester, both my drafting skills and the speed at which I can analyse and complete drawings have vastly improved. When we began, line weight was an issue; I found it tricky to judge exactly what constituted a thick, cutting line, when we needed to use the same, 0.5 pencil throughout. I also have a habit of doing everything lightly first, then going over it, which I quickly learnt didn't help me in our tutorial sessions.
Before our break I struggled to finish the drawing within the tutorial, but I'm competitive and quite determined and in the second half of the semester, I was proud to complete every drawing within the lesson, although at times with seconds to spare. For my final assignment, I chose to create a folded plate structure using concrete panels, primarily because it presented a challenge. I greatly enjoyed the research involved and as a result, detailed all my drawings; not just the actual details. Unnecessary, but at the time I wanted to make sure I remembered everything, although at the scale of 1:50 the details cannot be seen.
The course has been fascinating and I look forward to Construction 2.
